9 stories found featuring Old Mr Wombat

Billy The Easter Bunyip

It was dawn when the farmyard woke up to the sound of Billy The Easter Bunyip.

"Come out, everyone, come out and see!!" yelled Billy.

Roddy The Rooster, Mrs Hen and all the farmyard animals scrambled outside to see Billy The Easter Bunyip. At Billy's feet were six little fluffy chicks.

Here We Go Gathering Nuts In May

Roddy asked old Mr Wombat if he'd seen any nuts for Mrs Possum had lost all she had gathered.

"Nuts!?" cried Mr Wombat, "A whole heap of them washed down the track with the rains straight into my home." And Mr Wombat pointed to a spot beside his home where a pile of nuts stood. "It's taken me all morning to move them!"

Oh! What a Wonderful Life!

Then Reggie The Dog saw Mat The Cat
Get ready to leap from the wall
Look out, Mary! But Mary's watching Paul
And Paul, well he wasn't aware at all,
he was thinking:-
Oh! What a wonderful life!

Kira Kookaburra

"No rain and no cool breeze," said Roddy pointing to the stationary windmill.

Mr Horse came out of his barn and joined Mrs Cow for breakfast. "How can we escape this heat?" asked Mr Horse.

"Well, before it gets too hot we should go down to Tumbledown Creek for a swim." said Roddy. "Cassie The Carpetsnake and Joe The Jolly Jumbuck headed down there earlier."

The Grand Parade

Mr Horse was next to appear, marching proudly in full armour, like the horse of a brave knight from medieval times.

Cassie The Carpetsnake came into view pulling a small wagon bearing a hand written sign:- "The Hooded Escapologist." A mysterious figure stood on the wagon covered in a white sheet and wrapped in chains and padlocks. No one could recognise Joe The Jolly Jumbuck under that white sheet and wrapped in all those chains and padlocks!

Uncle Tim's Bush Band

Roddy read the piece of paper out aloud to himself, "Announcing the first tour of UNCLE TIM'S BUSH BAND. Featuring Uncle Tim on harmonica, Kira Kookaburra on guitar, Kenny Kangaroo on bass and Mr Wombat on drums." Roddy was excited, "Wow! I never knew Old Mr Wombat had it in him!"

Roddy The Rooster excitedly scrambled from the roof to spread the news around. And soon the farmyard was abuzz because everyone loves a bush band!

A Puppy's Tale

Pixie tried to console the puppy. "What's your name?" she asked.

"I'm called Lasilaura, I'm a labrador, and my city owners have left me behind!"

Next moment Penny & Pixie were leading Lasilaura to Roddy The Rooster. "He'll know what to do!" they assured Lasilaura.

Old Mr Wombat's Tea Party

"Have a nice day, Mrs Cow!" said Old Mr Wombat as he headed toward the farmyard. "Thanks for the invitation," said Mrs Cow who returned to eating her breakfast.

When Old Mr Wombat entered the barnyard he first saw Desmond Duck and promptly handed him an invitation. "It's on Thursday at noon," said Old Mr Wombat cheerfully.

"Who's Roddy?"

Roddy The Rooster is always first to rise in the morning, but not usually with a bonk to his beak.

Roddy rubbed his head and climbed to the roof of his barn to give his familar morning wake-up call.
